Mama Dominique turns Michelle into an aunt of two

Dominique Gisin became a mother for the first time. The delivery took place on Wednesday evening.

Michelle Gisin (29) is not only in a hurry on the slopes on Sunday in Crans-Montana USA. She is eighth, she has never been so good in this discipline this winter. She also tries to turn the interview marathon into a sprint afterwards. Why? “I’ve been an aunt of two since Wednesday evening,” she beams. “But because I left that day, I didn’t get to know the little one anymore. That’s why I have to go home as soon as possible.”

What Gisin Means: Her older sister Dominique, Olympic downhill champion from 2014, became a mother for the first time at age 37. “It’s beautiful, I’m very happy,” says her younger sister Michelle. She has now become an aunt of two in a short time. A month ago, her brother Marc – who also participated in long ski races – became the father of a little boy. “After the World Cup I was able to be with him for a few days,” said Gisin.

«Especially for the whole family»

Where Marc Gisin (34) stopped top sport two years ago, Dominique stopped skiing in March 2015. After that, the trained pilot was anything but idle. She holds a Masters in Physics and is a member of Sporthilfe’s Board of Trustees.

When Blick asked Michelle Gisin in early November about the expected family addition, she said: “It’s very special. Not just for me, but for the whole family. Dominique doesn’t want to make it big, but we all can’t wait – it’s beautiful .”
