Lausanne triumphs in the top battle in Wil

Lausanne-Sport celebrates three points in the top battle.

Lausanne-Sport is again three points behind leader Wil in the Challenge League promotion race. The team of coach Ludovic Magnin wins the top match against Eastern Switzerland 2-1 and also benefits from Yverdon’s 1-3 defeat in Thun.

Tochi Suzuki puts Lausanne in the lead after 50 minutes in the lively summit meeting in Wil. In the 89th minute, league top scorer Brighton Labeau made it 2-0 with his 16th goal of the season. The goal from a well-placed free kick by Kastrijot Ndau from a great distance has only cosmetic value, also because Silvio headed on the crossbar in the early stages.

Thun tricks Yverdon

Because Wil’s first pursuer Yverdon loses in Thun, the first three teams in the league are again only three points apart. For Yverdon it is the second mistake in a row after the 2-2 at home against Vaduz.

The crucial goals fell in the Stockhorn Arena at the start of the last fifteen minutes within 96 seconds. First Breston Malula evaded an own goal after a corner, shortly afterwards Dimitri Oberlin extended a free kick cross to bring the 3-1 into the guest goal. (SDA)
