The former vice-president of the arbitration requested that outstanding accounts be paid in the amount of 267,047 euros

Former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Judges (CTA), Jose Maria Enriquez Negreiraas reported Worldsent by burofax that threatens Barcelona in which he demanded from the club management that he could not stop paying him “after so many years of relationship, so many services rendered and so much shared trust”. He also pointed out that at all times he received direct instructions from the various entity presidents, including Joan Laporta.

Negreira would approach the club – already chaired by Josep Maria Bartomeu – after ending his relationship with him. The former arbitrator demanded that his relationship continue and demanded payment of outstanding bills. He once again referred to the services he provides to Barcelona.

Within ten days

Negreira’s lawyers sent this burofax to the club on December 3, 2018. It is a communication prior to the first burofax that revealed World. The first of them warned that all the “irregularities” in which he participated and which he “accredited” would surface.

After this, Negreira left the door open for the club to try to redirect the situation: “I want to understand that this non-payment is due to some kind of administrative error.” Which, he added, he hopes will be “happily resolved for the benefit of all parties”. For this reason, they invited Barcelona to proceed “within 10 working days” with the deposit of the remaining amounts, specifying the account number.

A threat from a former colleague

“When the situation with non-payment is regulated, it is in the interest of my client,” according to a fax from Negreira’s lawyers. “Continue to offer them your services in the usual way and manner. However, if your intention was otherwise, we encourage you to proceed with the resolution of your relationship by making a formal and confidential communication to our client. Since to date there is no formal or reliable knowledge that Barcelona has given up its services, especially when they have been agreed directly with the Presidency.

Negreira told the club that he hopes “this is all a misunderstanding”. and he pointed out that he has “a firm belief in the good redirection of the relationship that is maintained with you, one way or another”.

Otherwise, the attitude of Barcelona, and especially of Mr. Bartomeu, will be incomprehensible, which would cause him deep disappointment after so many years of relationship, so many services rendered, so much shared trust.

Ultimately, the lawyer of the former vice-president of the arbitrator believes that “it is imperative to reach a positive and constructive agreement”. In this way, “greater evils and undesirable actions for both parties will be avoided”.
