World Cup bronze for Zogg and Caviezel!

After gold in the parallel slalom, Julie Zogg can now celebrate team bronze.

After yesterday’s Swiss double victory in the parallel slalom and the silver medal in the parallel giant slalom on Sunday, there is the next success at the World Snowboarding and Freestyle Championships in Bakuriani.

The duo of Dario Caviezel and Julie Zogg secured bronze in the team competition in stormy conditions. It is the second medal for both at the current World Cup. Surprisingly, the title goes to the Italian team, consisting of Nadya Ochner and Aaron March, who defeated the Austrians (Schoeffmann/Prommegger) in the final. The second Swiss duo, Ladina Jenny and Gian Casanova, lost to Poland in the round of 16 and finished 9th in the final standings.

In an interview with SRF, Zogg and Casanova emphasize that the parallel giant slalom on the team is a bonus. “Closing the World Cup with a medal is of course wonderful,” the two say. “The weather was anything but pleasant, but since it’s the same for both and the two courses were fair and the same this time, it was a lot of fun.” The course was set by the head coach of the Swiss snowboarders, Daniel Weiss.

Zogg and Jenny already won gold and silver in the parallel slalom on Tuesday. Dario Caviezel had already won silver on Sunday.
