Russell and Hamilton faster than Verstappen in third free practice session in Mexico
George Russell (Mercedes) set the best time in the third free practice session for the Mexico City Grand Prix. His teammate Lewis Hamilton followed in second place. Max Verstappen drove the third fastest time.
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc struggled in the final practice session. He crashed into the barriers in the second practice session on Friday and had problems with his car on Saturday.
Sergio Pérez in particular, who is driving his home race in Mexico, is hoping for this. “Checo” and Leclerc are engaged in an exciting duel for second place in the world championship standings.
Mercedes surprised
Verstappen didn’t come out for the first twenty minutes of the third practice session. On Friday he also did some practice laps in the second practice session, which was dominated by a tire test for Pirelli.

Once out on track, the brand new World Champion put in a strong time. But the Mercedes drivers Russell and Hamilton disappeared there – and that was somewhat surprising.
In the last flying lap, Leclerc complained about technical problems. The Monegasque has to hope his car is in better shape at 10pm Dutch time, as that’s when qualifying starts.
