Hells Angels boss Ertan Y.* (36) has been living a luxurious life for years: on Instagram, the Basel native with Turkish roots presents himself as a successful businessman alongside countless stars and starlets, smokes cigars and travels jets from country to country. Usually with a smile and shiny teeth, but also every now and then an angry look – just as serious. He seems to be fond of jewelry, such as expensive Patek Philippe watches. A special accessory that always flashes into the camera: his XXL Hells Angels tattoo on his left arm.
If you take a closer look at his photos and videos, you will also see Swiss personalities – mainly from the football world – smiling at you. For example, Nati star Breel Embolo and Ragip Xhaka – father of Granit and Taulant Xhaka. Besides Embolo, Nati stars Granit Xhaka and Manuel Akanji also congratulated him on his birthday via video. He also seems to have friends in the music scene: Swiss rapper Loredana as well as her ex-husband Mozzik and his brother Getinjo – both successful Kosovar rappers – also congratulated him on his birthday via video. He also appears on holiday with German rapper Mero (actually Enes Meral).
Sex in custody
But who is the man who likes to surround himself with stars and even describes himself as a public figure? And: How does he earn his money?
He himself has linked a player agency on his Instagram profile. In a photo from early May 2020, the suspect presents himself as a hard-working man in an office full of football shirts. The company is mentioned in its hashtags. He can also be seen in photos with the founder. However, when asked by Blick, he did not want to comment.
The fact is: Ertan Y. had to say goodbye to his luxurious life in mid-June 2021. The last flight took him to the Waaghof prison in Basel. But unlike other prisoners, he was able to enjoy himself within the prison walls. As the indictment shows, he bought various favors, such as sex and cell phones. Two Securitas employees – who have now also been charged – helped him.
In mid-May – after about three years – he will be tried before the Basel criminal court. He is accused, among other things, of property crimes worth millions. Other allegations include: multiple rapes, bribery and fraud, sexual acts with children and forgery of documents.
Certificates for Embolo
Under the last point, it is known that he and a co-suspect had false Covid certificates made in a laboratory. The indictment names several customers. One name in particular stands out: Breel Embolo. The Nati star is said to have bought fake Covid travel tickets twice in February 2021, which showed that the Covid test was negative. The co-suspect sent these to Ertan Y., who then forwarded them to Embolo via WhatsApp.
Another charge from the long list of accusations: sexual acts with children. Ertan Y. is said to have manipulated a then 14-year-old into sending him nude files of herself and her then 10-year-old sister. He then allegedly put further pressure on her by threatening to distribute her details on social media. He also allegedly forced a girl to have sex. The Public Prosecution Service ensures communication between the two in the form of chats.
Ertan Y. must also answer for the luxurious life within the prison walls. He is accused of bribery here. He is said to have used two former employees of Securitas AG for his services. So he had the male employee smuggle cell phones into the prison in exchange for money. He had sex with the female employee. In return, he promised her money, expensive gifts and luxurious vacations.
Damage of 3.6 million euros
The multi-million dollar fraud is also likely to be serious: the indictment shows that fake companies, which always included colleagues of Ertan Y., were used to mislead investors. They assumed they were investing money in stocks. The money is said to have been brought to Turkey by colleagues – on the suspect’s orders – through other contacts. Ertan Y. is said to have been the head of this gang. According to the Public Prosecution Service, the amount of damage is around 3.6 million euros.
Ertan Y. will appear before the Basel criminal court on May 13. The Public Prosecution Service explains how he financed his luxurious life until his arrest: “The fact that the criminal activities were financially worthwhile for the suspect is evident from the luxurious lifestyle that the suspect openly displayed on social media. However, this extravagant lifestyle has never precluded legal work.”
