Track specialist Simon Vitzthum will retire from top sport this autumn. However, the 29-year-old from St. Gallen will remain with Swiss Cycling and will take responsibility for the association’s service course in Grenchen.
As Swiss Cycling announced on Tuesday, Vitzthum succeeds Simon Meier, who is reducing his workload through further training.
Vitzthum started his career on mountain bike and broke through to the top five years ago when he switched to the track. In 2020 he won bronze with the foursome at the European Championships in Bulgaria, and a year later he even won the silver medal with the foursome on his home track in Grenchen. (SDA)
