Last week I trained outside for the first time and I really enjoyed it. After all, the Olympic Games are only four months away. Now we are working on pure speed – you notice that the first matches are getting closer.
Last year I had some problems with my foot. Today I have no more pain and feel much better. However, I still pay a little attention and alternate between different shoes while training so as not to irritate my foot.
Last year I skipped the 200 meter race. Now I have planned that I can walk everything. I also train normally at this distance, including turns.
Without the indoor season I do not have the reference times
But the question is: how am I on schedule for the Olympic Games? Making a comparison with other years is difficult because I did not have an indoor season. But I feel good. Right now I’m exactly where I wanted to be in my preparation. Due to the suspension of the indoor season, I have no reference for my times. But it’s not the first time I’ve made this decision.
Hall or not? There are always pros and cons. Normally I love running indoors. But with three major title fights this year, it was more important for me to skip the World Indoor Championships and focus on the European Championships and the Olympic Games, both of which take place outdoors.
I’m glad that in a few weeks the seriousness of life will begin. I’ll probably start with 200m runs as it’s easier for me to start over on the longer distances. These competitions will mainly be a preparation for my two goals.
I’m already thinking about the Olympics, but for now I’m taking it one step at a time. I also saw the pictures of the Olympic village. It’s always a special place, but right now I don’t think about it much. I trust the organizers in Paris that everything will go well. For me personally, it is just important that the village, the stadium and the transport between the locations are functional.
