Feyenoord loses in Graz in added time and now has to beat Lazio
A continuation in the Europa League will be difficult for Feyenoord after a 1-0 defeat at Sturm Graz. Coach Arne Slot’s team lost in added time and fell back to third place in Group F.
Next week Lazio comes to Rotterdam and then a win is announced. In the early evening, the Italians defeated visiting FC Midtjylland 2-1.
Started as a pioneer
Feyenoord, still top of the table for this round, won 6-0 at De Kuip in mid-September but Sturm Graz refused to be dragged into the slaughter again.
Feyenoord had the best chances in the first half and scored several times. Sebastian Szymanski missed the shot, Orkun Kökcü forced keeper Jörg Siebenhandl to save and Javairô Dilrosun was almost successful with one shot.

Gernot Trauner had the greatest chance. The central defender almost scored a cross from Szymanski after half an hour of play, but Siebenhandl and the crossbar prevented a goal.
Even a header from Danilo just before half-time didn’t bring the desired result for Feyenoord. The Brazilian started the attack at the expense of Santiago Gimenez this time.
Too great decay
After the break, Feyenoord came out much weaker. The decline was too great and Arne Slot’s formation was lucky that Sturm Graz didn’t take advantage of his chances.
Justin Bijlow parried an attempt by Tomi Horvat, substitute ex-Spartaner Emanuel Emegha headed wide of the outside post and David Affengruber also failed with his head.
Feyenoord hardly managed anything and, to make matters worse, had to concede a goal in added time. Substitute Otar Kiteishvili struck mercilessly and toppled Feyenoord in grief: 1-0.
The Rotterdam side are now third in Group F, good for a continuation in the Conference League. Next week, a win against Lazio in De Kuip is necessary to continue in the Europa League. In the event of a defeat, the people of Rotterdam could go completely empty-handed.
