Silvana Tirinzoni (r.) high-fives Alina Pätz, second victory in the second World Cup match.

In their second match of the World Championships in Sydney, Canada, the Swiss curlers led by Skip Silvana Tirinzoni achieved their second victory. They defeated the USA 10:3.

The Americans around Skip Tabitha Peterson started excellently with a house of two and a 3-1 lead after three runs. But just three points later they gave up in a hopeless situation. Because the four-time world champion Carole Howald, Selina Witschonke, Silvana Tirinzoni and Alina Pätz hit back with a house of four and then stole three and two stones respectively.

Peterson is playing her seventh consecutive World Cup tournament. She won a medal once: bronze in 2021. The Swiss will play against outsiders Estonia and Turkey on Monday, Swiss time. (SDA)
