Novak Djokovic will miss the Masters in Miami.

The 36-year-old Serbian justified his rejection by saying that at this point in his career he was balancing his professional and private life. Djokovic missed the tournament last year. At that time, he was not allowed to enter the US because he had not been vaccinated against the coronavirus.

The year 2024 started modestly by Djokovic’s standards. In his last appearance in Indian Wells, the Serbian unexpectedly had to retire in the third round against world number 128 Luca Nardi. He previously lost to eventual winner Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the Australian Open.

Djokovic’s next appearance is expected at the start of the clay court season in Monte Carlo (from April 8). (SDA/mab)
