No coaching change at FC Basel. Fabio Celestini (48) will also be on the FCB bench next season. The Bebbi extend the Swiss’ contract until 2026. The club announced this on Friday afternoon.
“From the beginning I felt that the sports committee had a lot of confidence in my work and that is very important for me as head coach, especially in more difficult phases,” Celestini told FCB. They agree on future plans and want to build something together. “I’m really looking forward to this.”
Celestini enjoys confidence despite a mixed balance sheet
Ruedi Zbinden, member of the sports committee, is happy that the 48-year-old could be retained for the long term: “After the first few games, his signature was recognizable and he was able to stabilize the team in a very short time in the autumn and the urgent produce necessary results.” He has breathed new life into the team and that is why they are convinced that “we are on the right track”.
