The selection reshuffle announced by national coach Julian Nagelsmann (36) has probably found its first victim in Leon Goretzka (29). As the Bild newspaper reported on Tuesday, the midfielder of record champion Bayern Munich will not be nominated for the German national team’s upcoming matches against France (March 23) and the Netherlands (March 26). Youngster Aleksandar Pavlovic (19) will be there.
At the request of SID, the German Football Association (DFB) did not comment on the rumors and referred to the official selection nomination on Thursday. Nagelsmann recently emphasized that he did not want to avoid unpopular measures in view of the home European Championship. “One or two people who many people think will definitely be there will certainly not be nominated,” the national coach explains.
Goretzka, like almost all his Bayern colleagues, has been in poor form recently, but showed an improving form last Saturday in the 8-1 win against Mainz 05.
