Age fraud is a known problem in African football competitions. The Cameroonian association is trying to combat this problem and is suspending 62 football players.

The African Football Federation FECAFOOT is now trying to clarify how old Cameroon’s football stars really are. According to the investigation, a total of 62 frauds were discovered. The list of all age fraudsters was published this weekend.

According to “Bild”, Wilfried Nathan Douala (17, officially at least), the youngest player in the selection, is also there. The Victoria United player, who was part of the Africa Cup of Nations squad last January, has now been ruled out of the Cameroon Professional League play-offs. It has not yet been announced how long the closures will last.

In Cameroon, 44 football players have already been suspended in 2022 and 21 in 2023 for age fraud. Former football star and current Cameroonian federation president Samuel Eto’o (43, but who knows) is addressing the problem and taking action against his own players.

They usually pretend to be younger than they really are in order to become the focus of European talent scouts. (eh)
