Marco Odermatt (26) can also do it differently. It doesn’t always have to be a tough track and chase times. At the weekend he enjoyed freeriding in the powder snow.

“An unexpected week at home,” the overall World Cup winner writes on Instagram. There is also a video and a few photos of him with friends in the deep snow. Odermatt and Co. posing, among other things, around the cross on the top of the Brisen above Lake Lucerne and his birthplace Buochs NW.

Due to the cancellation of the World Cup races in Kranjska Gora, Odermatt had a free weekend. A giant slalom would have been on the program in Slovenia on Saturday. Just like the planned slalom on Sunday, this had to be canceled.

On to the World Cup final

From this week things will get serious again for Odermatt. At the World Cup Final in Saalbach (Austria) he will take part in the giant slalom on Saturday and will be chasing his 13th World Cup victory in a row – and the tenth of the season. After the slalom is on the program on Sunday and Odermatt is free again, the speed races will follow next week.

While Odermatt has already secured the big ball for the overall World Cup and the small ball for the giant slalom, it’s all about crystal again. The 26-year-old can clear the Super-G ball on Friday. The season ends on Sunday, March 24 with the hunt for the downhill ball.
