Heidi Diethelm Gerber (54) has had enough: the Swiss shooting icon is stepping down as head of the pistol department and trainer of the Olympic and non-Olympic pistol disciplines at the national SSV association.

“The athletes give me great joy,” she said in an association statement. But because of her work, the family was neglected, says Diethelm Gerber. “Due to the many absences this job entails, I can no longer meet my expectations of living together with my husband Ernst.”
Diethelm Gerber is a two-time European champion and World Cup winner. The highlight of her career was winning the 2016 Olympic bronze medal in Rio de Janeiro. (cmu)
