The Swiss men’s relay team received the maximum penalty at the start of the Biathlon World Cup in Soldier Hollow near Salt Lake City. The Swiss Ski team is patched and is therefore eliminated.
After three previous seventh places and one fifth place this winter, the Swiss will experience a competition to quickly forget when the World Cup returns to the US after five years. Joscha Burkhalter, Sebastian Stalder and Jeremy Finello are so far behind that the last runner, Niklas Hartweg, no longer plays. The results on the shooting range with three penalties and eleven reserve rounds are just as disappointing as what was seen on the cross-country trail.
The victory in the fifth and final relay race of this season goes to Norway for the fifth time, although they were defeated by Sweden at the World Cup. Italy and Germany complete the podium. Host country Americans surprise with 4th place (SDA)
