First victory in a World Tour race for Tudor Pro Cycling. The Swiss cycling team led by boss Fabian Cancellara (42) wins the second stage of the Paris-Nice long-distance race. It is Arvid de Kleijn (29) who wins the race in the bunch sprint on the day route from Thiory to Montargis. De Kleijn achieved his first victory of the year and gave himself and his team their very first WT victory.
After the race the Dutchman was very happy: “A WT victory has been my goal for a long time. It’s great when it works out like this.” The 29-year-old especially praises the team performance. “We all stayed calm and had a driver on the train, Matteo Trentin, who knew exactly what we had to do. I performed well on the straight home stretch. perfect and still had my two compatriots, Rick Pluimers and Maikel Zijaard, in front of me. And they did a great job,” said De Kleijn in the winner’s interview.
Great success for the Cancellara team
Team boss Fabian Cancellara is also happy with what is probably the biggest success in the team’s young history: “This season has already started well for us, which shows what a big step we have taken as a team. The victory on the Paris-Nice stage shows that we can keep up with the best teams in the world.” (mbi)
