After the punch puzzle: court rejects appeal against Fohrler ban

class=”sc-cffd1e67-0 iQNQmc”>

Have to watch one more game: Ambris Tobias Fohrler.

It remains one of the strangest scenes of the hockey season: in the match between Ambri and Ajoie on February 21 (3:2), Tobias Fohrler (26) and Eric Gélinas (32) collided. Linesman Sandro Gurtner (32) intervenes – and is promptly hit in the face with a fist. From the first video footage, Fohrler seems to be the clear culprit; the Leventiner defender is sent off the ice for “insulting officials”.

But if you look closely, you’ll notice that Fohrler didn’t actually hit the referee. The Ambri player only knocked away Gélina’s hand, who then hit the referee in the face. The association’s single judge confirmed this, but still suspended Fohrler for four games. There was also a fine of 6,500 francs.

Ambri has appealed against this ruling to the Association Sports Court. But this has now been rejected. Fohrler has already served three of the four suspensions.
