After months of hard work on design, development and construction, Alinghi Red Bull Racing’s racing yacht, named BoatOne, left the shipyard in Ecublens on the shores of Lake Geneva on Monday morning. In the coming days, BoatOne will continue its journey by truck through France to Catalonia before arriving at the team base in Barcelona.

Built in Switzerland

The new AC75 is the yacht with which the Swiss challenger will compete in the upcoming America’s Cup. In accordance with official racing protocol, the boat was built in Switzerland, home country of the club the team represents: the Société Nautique de Genève.

Part of the boat building team will now move to Barcelona, ​​where the shore crew, responsible for the boat and the race, and the boat builders will prepare the AC75 for its maiden voyage in April and the upcoming spring training. The final touches are being made to the boat on site.

It will take more than six months before it becomes serious. In September and October 2024, the challengers for Barcelona will determine who can sail for the 37th America’s Cup against the defending champions from New Zealand. (SDA)
