Bitter bankruptcy in Acapulco: first hour free for Zverev

Disappointment in Acapulco: Alexander Zverev fails in Mexico against compatriot Daniel Altmaier.

Alexander Zverev was eliminated in the first round of the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco. The top-seeded German lost to his Davis Cup teammate Daniel Altmaier 3:6, 6:3, 3:6.

Zverev now has another bad memory of the $2.2 million hard court tournament on Mexico’s Pacific coast. In 2021 he triumphed here thanks to a final victory against the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. However, a year later he was disqualified for panicking during a doubles match, hitting his racket on the umpire’s chair. (SDA)
