In November, Premier League club Everton were deducted 10 points for breaching the competition’s profit and sustainability rules. This fine has now been corrected.
“Everton FC has appealed the sanction imposed on nine grounds,” the Premier League said in a statement. “Each of these reasons related to the sanction and not to the fact of the offense that the club admitted.”
Everton itself has made an important contribution to clarifying the whole matter. The appeals committee concluded that two of the reasons stated were justified.
As a result, the original points deduction was reduced from ten to six points. Now that the four points are back in Everton’s account, the club has risen from seventeenth to fifteenth place in the rankings.
