European champion Zoé Claessens was in a class of her own on the technically demanding circuit in Brisbane. On Saturday, the 22-year-old Romande was victorious in all races and on Sunday she defeated local Saya Sakakibara in the final by more than half a second. In the overall World Cup, the number two of the 2022 World Cup is in second place behind Sakakibara.

Only six hundredths were missing and Switzerland would have celebrated a double victory on Sunday. Cédric Butti was in the lead at the start of the home straight and had his first World Cup victory in sight, but was overtaken in the final meters by Olympic silver medalist Kye Whyte of England. Nevertheless, the 24-year-old from Thurgau took the lead in the overall World Cup. (SDA)
