EHC Olten is back in the series with Thurgau for its own team.

EHC Visp still needs a win to reach the semi-finals of the Swiss League play-offs. Coach Heinz Ehlers’ team defeated cup winner Basel 3-2 and led 3-0 in the quarter-finals.

Timo Haussener scored the visitors’ winning goal to make it 3-2 in the 57th minute, after the Valais had converted 0-1 (12th) into 2-1 (30th) with a double strike in the middle third inside 42 seconds. Visp only reached the play-offs in seventh place in the final round, while Basel scored as many points as qualifying winners La Chaux-de-Fonds.

The team from Neuchâtel defeated Winterthur 8-0 and showed an impressive response to Friday’s surprising 2-4 defeat. Defender Anthony Huguenin scored two goals and three assists. Allan McShane also scores twice.

Promotion candidate Olten also wins

Like La Chaux-de-Fonds, third-placed Olten, the second Swiss League team to qualify for promotion alongside Visp, also leads with 2-1 wins. Solothurn is 1:3 behind at the second break in the home game against Thurgau (6th). François Beauchemin after 43 seconds in the third period and Eliot Antonietti (57th) saved Solothurn with their goals in extra time, in which Andri Spiller was responsible for the decision in favor of Olten in the 68th minute.

The GCK Lions (4th) lose for the second time in a row to Sierre (5th) despite shots on target from 56:27. In the final third the guests turned a 1:2 (28th) into a 4:2 (60th). Maxime Montandon contributed two goals to the victory. (SDA)
