The second act of the Zurich trilogy takes place before the FCL from 4:30 p.m. Against Winterthur, FCZ and rankings in 14 days. This is the central Swiss program. The start a week ago at the Schützenwiese went badly wrong due to a lack of performance in the second half. “We all went down,” coach Mario Frick (49) remembers. “We played like a top team in the first half and like a relegated team in the second,” he continues.
It goes without saying that Frick wants to see more moves from a top team against FCZ. However, the preparation was anything but optimal. The reason? A flu wave has had a firm grip on the FCL for weeks. ‘Something is going on. Not just with us. Now everyone had it. “I hope we can get through it,” says the Liechtensteiner optimistically.
The ‘brains of the team’ are also sick
The list of people weakened by the flu is long. Kemal Ademi (28) in particular had a hard time. The striker is said to have already lost more than three kilos as a result. With Max Meyer (28), Pius Dorn (27), Kevin Spadanuda (27), Adrian Grbic (27), Denis Simani (32) and Martin Frydek (31), several regular players were ill this week.
While the last two are ready to play against FCZ, Grbic’s performance remains questionable until the end. The others, on the other hand, will certainly fail. Including Dorn, “the brains of the team” for the third game in a row. This is how Frick described his all-rounder before the second half of the season. The regret is correspondingly great. “He is our secret weapon between the lines. I am convinced that with him such a failure would not have happened in Winterthur.”
Frick hopes Dorn will be available again against the rankings. It will be decided at that time whether the Zurich trilogy was good for the FCL or not. At the end of January a comparison will be made with the Vaud trilogy. There were six points against Lausanne-Sport, SLO and Yverdon.
