Thun celebrates, the Aarau players (in black) have nothing but frustration.

Leader Sion turned a 0-1 into a 2-1 in the final phase of the Challenge League in Vaduz and is still four points ahead of Thun, who won 1-0 at home against Aarau.

For a long time it looked like the second championship defeat for relegated Sion this season in Vaduz. The visitors fell behind in the 22nd minute after an own goal by Ali Kabacalman. They chased this until the 86th minute. Then Dejan Sorgic equalizes from close range. And it gets even better for Sion, because Sorgic manages to make it 2-1 again in injury time (94′).

With his seventh goal of the season, Sorgic ruined Marc Schneider’s debut as Vaduz coach. He replaced the dismissed Martin Stocklasa during the week. The Liechtensteiners have won only once in the last fifteen games in the Challenge League. It is the fifth victory in a row for Sion.

Alex Frei has to watch FCA go bankrupt

With Thun and Aarau, the second and third of the table meet. The only goal of the match was scored by Nicola Sutter in the 72nd minute. The difference between these two teams is now 16 points; second place entitles you to participate in the Jump-off.

Aarau, now in fourth place, will almost certainly have to wait for a return to Super League. Coach Alex Frei served his second and final suspension in Thun after the middle finger gesture.

In the third game on Friday, Neuchâtel Xamax won 2-0 at the newly promoted Stade Nyonnais. Jesse Hautier scored both goals. (cat/SDA)
