Ferrari fans have been waiting for a driver’s title (Räikkönen) since 2007. In any case, in 2008 there was the team crown with Massa and Räikkönen. For McLaren-Mercedes and BMW-Sauber.
Yellow is back in fashion
The new Ferrari SF-24, presented in a simple setting, was especially surprising with the second Ferrari color: yellow. The team explains: “We haven’t seen the long yellow stripes since 1968. But now they are linked to Weiss for the first time.”
Technical director Enrico Cardile: “Every area has been revised again. At the end of the season we could already see that we were making progress. And now we have incorporated the drivers’ ideas back into the car.”
How good is Leclerc?
After Ferrari lost second place in the World Championship to Mercedes by three points in 2023, there wasn’t much to analyze. Leclerc (without victory in 32 races or Spielberg 2022) and Sainz (only red victory in Singapore in 2023) simply made too many mistakes, crashed – and therefore could not take advantage of their often good starting positions and pole positions.
Sainz has to leave at the end of the season, but wants to give everything again. For Leclerc it will be a long year of waiting for Hamilton. Then the Monegasque must prove how good he really is. “I hope the fans can cheer more this time.”
Hamilton the 112th red driver
Hamilton becomes the 112th factory driver at Ferrari. The Reds’ balance sheet after 1074 World Cup races: 243 victories (85 of which were double successes), 249 pole positions and 807 podium places.
While Ferrari was filming the first of the 200 permitted filming day kilometers in Fiorano, Red Bull surprised on Tuesday with its first appearance in the Silverstone rain. But these photos – as is now the case with Ferrari – do not yet show the real car from the test in Bahrain (21 to 23 February).
PS: The FIA has a new technical director in Jan Monchaux (45), the Frenchman was fired from Sauber in the autumn.
