2nd place for BMX rider Cédric Butti (l.) in New Zealand.

Cédric Butti narrowly missed his first win in the BMX Racing World Cup. The 24-year-old from Thurgau only had to admit defeat to Frenchman Joris Daudet in the second race at the season opener in Rotorua, New Zealand. The day before, the former junior world champion finished fourth, just behind compatriot Simon Marquart.

Among the women, 20-year-old Thalya Burford from Geneva reached the World Cup final for the first time, where she finished eighth. The nominally strongest Swiss Zoé Claessens failed in the semi-finals, just like on Saturday when she fell. (SDA)
