The Swiss Bobsleigh Association goes all-in for the World Championships in Winterberg, Germany! To challenge the clearly favored German sleds in the battle for a World Cup medal in the four-man race, Swiss Sliding is throwing old practices overboard.

What does that mean? Switzerland is shaking up the allocation of pushers to the various bobsleds for the World Cup (February 19 to March 3). The goal: the best pilot should get the three best pushers. This is unusual in bobsledding, because otherwise each driver decides which men push him.

The best pushers in a bob

But now comes the Swiss super bobsleigh. Pilot Michael Vogt (26) takes part in the World Championship together with his own pusher Sandro Michel (27), Andreas Haas (27) and Dominik Hufschmid (25). Haas is also active in the team of Simon Friedli (32), Hufschmid is from the team of Cédric Follador (29). In the internal performance tests, the three pushers came out on top.

It is a selection hammer for the teams. Because Super Bob’s daring project has explosive potential. Friedli in particular was particularly fast in the World Cup with his team in a four-man race – now the Solothurn resident races alone in a two-man race with his regular pusher at the World Cup. In the big sled he has to hand Andreas Haas over to Vogt.

A World Cup podium for the foursome would be the crowning glory of a strong season

The association reserves the right to mix up the pushers at major events. This option has been contractually arranged with the teams for several years, but has hardly been used lately.

Now Swiss Sliding believes the time is right to launch a major attack on the expected all-German podium with the super bob at the World Cup and in preparation for the World Cup race. The current season is already the best in years with the first Swiss Bobsleigh World Cup victory in six years (Vogt-two in La Plagne) and a total of 41 podium places in all disciplines and in all age groups (bobsleigh, skeleton, luge). Will there now be a medal in the highest discipline of four-man bobsleigh?
