Conclusion of the press conference
Coach Bo Henriksen will leave FCZ this summer – but now his first priority is to lead the club out of the unfortunate situation (without a win in seven games): “If you don’t win seven games, you are obviously insecure. That is normal. But out of seven games we should have won six. Now it is my job to provide the players with safety again.”
The first chance comes on Saturday when the hot derby against the rankings takes place (6 p.m.). There is also Fabian Rohner from FCZ, who is back in the selection after being kicked out. Henriksen justifies the decision as follows: “He wanted to play more and was dissatisfied. We thought we could give it away, but that didn’t happen. But ultimately we can use it now. He is motivated like never before.”
Sports director Milos Malenovic also sees it this way: “Maybe it wasn’t so bad that he ended up in this situation. We have now followed him in the U21s, he has played very well. In close conversations with Bo, we came to the conclusion that we could use a fit, motivated Fabian Rohner. I’m glad he’s back.”
As always, you can follow Saturday’s derby live at a glance in the ticker.
Henriksen about the winless streak
“If you don’t win seven games, you are obviously insecure. That is normal. But out of seven games we should have won six. Now it is my job to make them safe again. I take responsibility, I do everything for the boys. Football should be fun. Tomorrow is the derby, what more could we want? We do this for the fans.”
Henriksen: Rohner’s performance in the derby?
“Fabian Rohner will be part of the selection tomorrow. He shined in training and is currently very happy and motivated. He can’t wait for tomorrow’s derby.”
Malenovic about new acquisition Dante
“With Dante’s aggressiveness we can stabilize our defense.”
Malenovic over Rohner’s U-turn
“We want players with big goals and ambitions. We cannot tolerate people who have no ambition. Then the FCZ would no longer be the right address. For Rohner, finding himself in this situation wasn’t a big deal. I didn’t get an offer. He was also dissatisfied. But I have to compliment him, the staff and the U21 players. We followed him, he played very well. In close conversations with Bo, we came to the conclusion that we could use a fit, motivated Fabian Rohner. But we want players to understand: every day could be your last. I’m happy that we have Fabi back now.”
Henriksen during Rohner’s U-turn
‘He’s a great kid. He wanted to play more and was dissatisfied. We thought we could give it away, but that didn’t happen. But ultimately we can use it now. He can help us in this difficult situation. We can use his speed, he is motivated like never before. Today in training he was incredible. Hopefully we’ll see that tomorrow too.”
Malenovic about the criticism in the media
«I’m not a beginner. The first rule as a team leader is: you are not allowed to interfere with the line-ups. The fact that we talk is the basis. Rumors arise because many people are following what is currently happening at FCZ. Media-wise it is extremely exciting. There is a lot going on with the young generation, but this is always interpreted negatively. We work very well and intensively for our boys.”
Henriksen on criticism
‘I’m the coach. It’s my responsibility how we play. I select the team, it’s just my decision. Of course I consult with my employees, but ultimately I make the decisions. Anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know me.”
Malenovic about difficult phase
“After two wins we talk about the championship title, after two defeats we talk about relegation. We as a club must now build on this stability. We should not allow ourselves to question everything during a difficult phase. The players are overjoyed, not with the results, but with our development. We believe that Bo can solve that with this team.”
Malenovic about the coach’s departure
“We had very good conversations. From day one I had a very open, transparent relationship with Bo. We were interested in an extension, but then we entered this difficult phase: the first avalanche of the season. If the house is stable, it will not collapse. We are convinced that with Bo we can get out of this situation. We respect his decision, that is clear. We are firmly convinced that we can end the season on a positive note. We are still in the cup and in a good position in the championship. In the summer it was said that the FCZ was a candidate for relegation.
Henriksen about the current situation
“We are currently in a major crisis. But we’ve been there before and now we’re going to make it.”
