PEC Zwolle has managed to reclaim second place in the first division in an unconvincing way. All in all, Jong Utrecht was defeated 1-0 in Galgenwaard. PEC overtakes MVV, who beat Den Bosch 3-1 on Saturday.

PEC are now two points fewer (26-28) than leaders Heracles Almelo, who defeated FC Eindhoven (3-0) on Friday. On Friday, PEC plays at home number three MVV, which has 24 points.

PEC had the upper hand in that first venture, had chances, but didn’t have great chances. Young FC Utrecht occasionally knocked on the door but played their attacks sloppily, preventing the Utrecht talents from creating any great chances.

At the start of the second half, the game got a little more entertaining. PEC still had more possession and insisted, but Jong Utrecht managed to threaten a couple of times in return. Derensili Sanches Fernandes and former PEC player Eliano Reijnders had a chance to score.
