The right to play is there. Mega talent Simone Pafundi (17) can now wear number 30 for Lausanne. So nothing stands in the way of his debut in Letzigrund against FCZ. It is now solely up to coach Ludovic Magnin (44) whether the 1.66 meter tall football artist will make his first appearance on Swiss soil.

Can Pafundis make an immediate impression with his great talent? Magnin severely inhibits the euphoria. “He’s a very good player. And we would be happy if he also shows what he has shown so far in professional football. But you have to analyze your personality correctly. “So please keep the ball flat,” he demands.

“People expect him just like Jesus”

Magnin reminds us that in the past there have been many examples of super talents in Switzerland who should have been the next world stars. “Many had very good careers. But not like Maradona or Del Piero.” Magnin does it professionally and correctly. He protects his protégé the right way. “We are talking about a young player who is 17 years old and has never played two consecutive games in professional football. And people expect him just like Jesus did. But Pafundi will not be Jesus.”

Magnin could really use a savior, especially on the offensive. After all, his players regularly approach the opponent’s goal with fluttering nerves instead of with excessive force. That happened against Luzern player Kaly Sène (22), who appeared twice alone for Pascal Loretz, but failed twice against the goalkeeper and thus missed the preliminary decision.

Does Pafundi bring the necessary luck?

The fact that Sène regularly suffers from jamming in front of the opponent’s goal is nothing new. The Senegalese striker has no fewer than eight goals this season (five of which were penalties). But he is also the player in the Super League who missed the most big chances (9).

Just like Sène, his teammates also lack the necessary luck in front of goal. No team has scored as often as Lausanne (16). The string of bad luck slowly takes its toll on the psyche, Magnin said. The humor of a young wild man like Pafundi can only do a team good. The coach cannot deny that either.
