The national volleyball team has the successor to national coach Mario Motta, who resigned after last year’s European Championships.

Serramalera will take over the position with the national team with immediate effect. The first step together will take place in the summer in the run-up to the first three qualifying matches for the 2026 European Championship. At the same time, he will continue his coaching job at Amriswil.

With Serramalera, the national team also has sufficient experience on the sidelines after Motta. Before joining Amriswil, the 51-year-old Argentinian held various positions as coach of top international teams in Germany, Poland and Argentina, as well as assistant coach of the national teams of Germany, Argentina and China. He worked in Switzerland from 2002 to 2007: first as a player and then as head coach of Volley Näfels.
