Trinko Keen caused a big surprise at the NK table tennis in Zwolle. 15 years after his sixth national title, the 51-year-old veteran became Dutch champion for the seventh time.

Keen is one of the few Dutch people who managed to play table tennis professionally. The former world number eighteen took part in the Olympic Games in 1996, 2000 and 2004 and played in the German Bundesliga for many years.

In the final in Zwolle, 51-year-old Keen met Barry Berben. The 18-year-old from Limburg won the first two games, but still lost to the old masters 4-2 in sets (11-7, 11-7, 6-11, 7-11, 10-12, 9-11). .

Keen won his first national singles title in 1996. Only seven years later, when he had three Dutch championship titles under his belt, Berben was born. In addition to seven titles in singles, Keen was also twelve times Dutch champion in men’s doubles.
