Ex-Vitesse trainer achieves success with Bochum against leaders Union Berlin

League leaders Union Berlin suffered their second defeat of the season in Germany. That happened at bottom of VfL Bochum, led by former Vitesse coach Thomas Letsch.

Bochum won 2-1. Shortly before the break, Philipp Hofmann gave the home side the lead, and around twenty minutes before the end, substitute Gerrit Holtmann doubled the lead. Milos Pantovic’s goal came too late.

Union Berlin, with Sheraldo Becker as a regular, received a penalty to make it 2-1, but Pantovic saw his attempt blocked by goalkeeper Manuel Riemann.

Riemann has already saved three penalties this season and has hardly had any problems apart from the late 2-1 result.

Union is still one point ahead of Bayern

Union Berlin continue to lead in the Bundesliga, although only one point behind Bayern Munich. Bochum recorded their second home win under Letsch and is bottom of the table.
