Wilms, Janssen and Roord win the German leader in front of 21,287 fans
The footballers of VfL Wolfsburg won the top game in Germany against FC Bayern Munich 2-1. No fewer than 21,287 spectators came to the game.
That’s a nice number, but certainly not a record in women’s football. Earlier this year, 91,553 people were in the stands at Camp Nou for FC Barcelona’s game against Real Madrid (5-2).
Orange internationals
The Orange internationals Lynn Wilms, Dominique Janssen and Jill Roord were based in Wolfsburg. Roord was substituted after more than an hour of play.
Wolfsburg took the lead just before half-time through Ewa Pajor and just before Roord came on, Svenja Huth made it 2-0.
Klara Bühl’s goal embarrassed Wolfsburg for a while, but the league leaders also won their fifth league game. Bayern are already five points behind.
