Remains empty against Lausanne on January 31: the south bend of Zurich.

The next collective punishment follows the Swiss fan scene’s large-scale campaign to protest against collective punishment. Zurich’s southern bend was closed due to riots last Sunday, the Conference of Police Directors (KKJPD) announced in a press release.

The reason is an attack by “about a hundred Zurich fans” against the city police. The chaotic people pelted the police with hand torches, plumes of smoke, fireworks, stones and bottles. They also set up barricades with waste containers. The confrontation continued even after the Basel fans left Zurich. The licensing authority considers this escalation serious and therefore responds by blocking the curve. FC Zurich and the Swiss Football League (SFL) do not consider the sector closure as proportionate. FC Zurich wants to take legal action against the ban. (dti)
