Cyclist Brand breaks metacarpals

Cyclist Lucinda Brand (33) broke her metacarpal bone in a fall while exploring the Cyclocross World Cup competition in Tabor, Czech Republic.

The unlucky Baloise Trek Lions rider has to miss Sunday’s race. According to her team, Brand will be sidelined indefinitely.

It is extremely uncertain whether Brand will be able to defend her European Championship title due to the fracture of her right hand. On Saturday November 5th, Belgian Namur will fight for the white jersey with the European flag.

After races in Waterloo, USA, and Fayetville, Brand was second in the intermediate standings.
