Mobile phone ban at FCB

To lead FCB from the bottom tier in the second half of the season, Fabio Celestini (48) will not only be in action on the field. Since the player from Lausanne took over as coach at the end of October, there has been a conditional ban on mobile phones in the Basel dressing room. “Some players were in the dressing room an hour before training and were on Instagram on their mobile phones,” Celestini said before Sunday’s match against FCZ. With the ban, the FCB coach wants to promote communication within the team. But there are exceptions: “If you are waiting for a message from your wife, you can of course pick up your mobile phone and respond,” says Celestini. Instead of Instagram and Tiktok, the FCB stars now use the time before training for other activities. Celestini: “They watch scenes together or play football, tennis and Uno.”

Cold strikes

Since Thursday it has been clear that Winterthur was the victim of the weather forecast against Servette. For the same reason, the match between Yverdon and Lucerne that was scheduled for Sunday was postponed on Friday. Both matches will take place on Tuesday (kick-off 7 p.m.).

Waiting for the Swede

This week, Lucerne coach Mario Frick (49) finally got the reinforcement he wanted in central defense. Jesper Löfgren (26) came to the Central Swiss team on a six-month rental basis from Djurgarden. Lucerne fans will have to wait a little longer until they see their new number 3. Frick assumes that he will only be available in two weeks (against St. Gallen?). There is a simple reason for this. Because the championship in Sweden has ended since mid-November, Löfgren will have to make up for the training shortfall in the coming days.

GC-Berner is (still) silent.

The Hoppers made the news of the week on Wednesday with their takeover by LAFC. The sports management around sports director Bernt Haas (45) and coach Bruno Berner (46) has not yet commented on the new era on the campus in Niederhasli. Before the match against YB, the usual press conference with Berner did not even take place. He is not expected to appear before the media again as usual until next week. It is quite possible that he will comment on this for the first time on Saturday evening in Wankdorf.
