Thomas Dressen ends his career. Here he is on patrol.

German speed specialist Thomas Dressen (30) ends his career due to persistent health problems. On Saturday the 30-year-old will ride the infamous Streif in Kitzbühel for the last time, but on Friday he will skip the descent.

Dressen celebrated five victories in the World Cup, all in the downhill. In terms of prestige, the 2018 triumph in Kitzbühel was the greatest success. There are also five podium places, three of which are in Super-G.

Dressen’s path was also marked by many injuries and operations – on the hip and especially on the right knee. He suffered, among other things, a torn cruciate ligament and cartilage damage. This winter he wanted to attack again, but was clearly behind the leaders. Now he decided to resign. (SDA/mom)
