Ice in the stadium: Mainz against Union Berlin is cancelled

FSV’s home match against Union Berlin has been canceled due to heavy ice formation in the Mainz stadium.

The Mainz national team duo Silvan Widmer and Edimilson Fernandes are free to play on matchday 18: The Bundesliga match between their FSV Mainz 05 and Union Berlin on Friday evening is canceled due to winter weather conditions.

The reason for the cancellation is the “heavy icing” on the lower levels of the Mainz Arena and on the travel routes and the associated safety risks for spectators. A new performance date will be announced soon.

For the Berliners, it is the second away game this season that has been postponed. Köpenicker’s match at Bayern Munich was canceled for the same reasons in December last year. (sbe/SDA)
