Sébastien Buemi starts the new Formula E season with a podium finish. In Mexico City, the Vaudois only had to admit defeat to the German Pascal Wehrlein.
Buemi is just shy of his first win in Formula E since July 2019. The 35-year-old is now leading the race in his Envision Jaguar. Ultimately, he lost 1.162 seconds to Wehrlein in the duel between the two former Formula 1 drivers. It was Buemi’s 31st podium finish in Formula E. The other two Swiss are outside the championship points: Edoardo Mortara is 13th, Nico Müller 17th.
Formula E continues in two weeks with a double race in Diriyah in Saudi Arabia. The last two of a total of sixteen races of the season will take place in London in the penultimate weekend of July. A race on Swiss soil, such as the last one in Bern in June 2019, is once again not on the calendar. (SDA)
