When Roger Benoit had his first day as a permanent employee at Blick on May 1, 1969, he probably had no idea that he would still be working there more than 54 years later. It certainly can’t be a coincidence that he started working with us on Labor Day.
Today, Saturday, Boliden-Benoit celebrates his 75th birthday. It’s hard to believe, but for once he doesn’t appear in the newsroom that day, but treats himself to a few days’ holiday in Abu Dhabi. “I want to spend my birthday on a camel,” he explained to us before we left for our well-deserved vacation.
Besides, Benoit’s next big vacation isn’t far away either. At the end of March he will be at a Formula 1 GP in Australia for the 800th time as a reporter.
Dear Roger, enjoy your birthday today. We look forward to many more anniversaries to celebrate with you.
