A staggered start, cloudy skies and thick clouds of fog accompanied the World Cup races in Adelboden last weekend. The fans braved the difficult external circumstances and still turned the Chuenisbärgli into a festival hut.

And in Wengen? Even the weather gods won’t stand in the way of the big ski festival there.

The weather cooperates

“According to the weather forecasts, the weather is getting better and it will remain below freezing all day. “That is excellent for the slopes,” race director Bob Lehmann told Blick on Monday.

In fact, a breathtaking winter backdrop awaits the speed races. The conditions are also impressive on the approximately 4.5 kilometer long slope. “We have received beautiful powder snow in recent days,” says Lehmann. The track is now being prepared for Tuesday training.

All drivers must have equal opportunities

The aim is to ensure that the track remains the same for all drivers during the races. “Even the higher grades should have a chance of winning points. “To do this, we work with water, so that the slope can then freeze and become extremely hard and grippy,” Lehmann explains.

The replacement descent for Beaver Creek begins on Thursday. A Super-G is scheduled for Friday, before the traditional Lauberhorn descent on Saturday. Finally, there is a slalom on the program on Sunday.
