Wrapped up: Jessie Diggins as winner of the Tour de Ski

The young American Sophia Laukli was the first runner in the mass start race to reach the finish. In the final meters she distanced herself from the experienced Heidi Weng from Norway, who came within half a minute of Jessie Diggins in the general classification. Kerttu Niskanen from Finland finished third on the Tour podium.

Jessie Diggins is now 32 years old and has been proving her all-round qualities for ten years. Its heyday started in 2013 in Val di Fiemme. However, not as part of the Tour de Ski, but a month later at the World Championships. She then won gold in the team sprint. Last February, ten years later, she won gold in the 10 km at the World Championships in Planica with an individual start. In total, the woman from the state of Minnesota won nine medals at the Olympic Games and World Championships.

The Graubünden ladies Nadja Kälin and Désirée Steiner finished 24th and 25th on Sunday, losing almost three and a half minutes to the winner. Désirée Steiner missed the top 20 of the general classification by four seconds. (SDA)
