The ski jumpers invite you to the final of the Four Hills Tournament in Bischofshofen (Austria). In snow, rain and wind, the athletes take on the Paul Ausserleitner ski jump. The duel for the final round is clear: the Japanese Ryoyu Kobayashi and Andreas Wellinger (DE) are fighting for the tour victory – less than five points separate the two.

Ultimately, it is the Japanese who secures the Golden Eagle for the third time after 2019 and 2022 with his second place in the daily rankings. The only downside: after three second places, the Japanese missed his first victory of the day this winter. Nevertheless, joy is written all over Kobayashi’s face. With another second place, he is the first ski jumper in 25 years to win the tour without winning the day.

Disappointment with the Germans

Andreas Wellinger flies in fifth place and is defeated. There is great disillusionment in the German camp, hopes for the first tour victory since Sven Hannawald’s triumph in 2002 were enormous.

Stefan Kraft sailed to victory on the day with 140 meters in the second jump and to third place in the overall rankings. Garmisch winner Anze Lanisek of Slovenia finished third on the day.

The best Swiss in Deschwanden

Of the four qualified Swiss, only Gregor Deschwanden flies into the second round. The 32-year-old loses his match against tour winner Kobayashi, but is the lucky loser thanks to his jump of 126.5 m. On the second jump, the Swiss only flew 125 meters, which ultimately resulted in 24th place.

It is a disappointing result for Deschwanden: he traveled to the classic with four top ten places in a row and as number eight in the World Cup rankings.
