The Colorado Avalanche overwhelmed the competition in the 1990s. Right in the middle: Swedish star striker Peter Forsberg (50) and current ZSC coach Marc Crawford (62) as head coach. In the documentary ‘Coach Crawford and Phenomenon Forsberg – NHL Magic in Zurich’ the two meet again – the NHL titan visits his former coach at the Swiss Life Arena. It is the first meeting in ten years.
Together they dive back into the good old NHL days when they triumphed in the playoffs in 1996 and led Colorado to the Stanley Cup. “Peter is one of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of coaching,” Crawford says, still enthusiastic. Forsberg returns the flowers: “Marc had an aura, everyone listened to him.”
Scenes from a climb
As part of the documentary series “Inside Plus” from MySports in collaboration with Blick, Forsberg, who lived in Zug for five years and worked there at the management agency 4Sports, and the current ZSC coach look together at the highlights of their time together in the NHL. It started in the 1994/95 season when rookie Forsberg slowly conquered the NHL with the Quebec Nordiques – under the young coach Crawford. You can also see how Crawford clashed with the opposing team’s head coach, the legendary Scotty Bowman, in 1997. And what he thinks about it today. (just now)
