Nino Niederreiter was there twice in the power play. In the 38th minute he used a pass from Nate Schmidt from a tight angle to make it 3-0. With 19 seconds left, he scored the final point with an accurate shot from the slot to make it 5–1 for the Jets against Boston. At the start of the final third he launched the counter-attack to make it 4-0.
With ten goals and ten assists each, Niederreiter became the third Swiss, after Kevin Fiala and Roman Josi, to reach the 20-goal mark in the 32nd game.
The man of the hour for the Jets is Gabriel Vilardi. The scorer of the 2-0 and assistant of the 1-0 was successful for the fifth time in a row and increased his score to twelve points during this series.
Thanks in part to Vilardi, Winnipeg moved to 3rd place in the Eastern Conference. The Boston Bruins, in turn, are still number 2 in the West after their third defeat in a row behind the New York Rangers, who also lost (3:4 at home against Edmonton). (SDA)
