Nick Kyrgios loses his nerve in the argument with Boris Becker.

The verbal blows between Nick Kyrgios (28) and Boris Becker (56) enter the next round. “Continue with your nonsense, you are no longer relevant, idiots,” Kyrgios posted on “X” (formerly Twitter).

It is a blow to the older generations of tennis. The Australian, who is currently sidelined due to an injury, is annoyed by the dispute, which is mainly about the extent to which former tennis greats are responsible for the attention and income of today’s stars.

Becker, himself a six-time Grand Slam winner, had called for greater respect for the sport’s legends. Kyrgios responded with another spicy post: “Bro, I was one of the few players who brought millions of fans to the sport – and more money for everyone.”

“Christmas greetings to Nick”

Kyrgios is referring to the Netflix series ‘Break Point’, in which he was one of the leading actors: ‘I don’t remember seeing Boris there. The man is ridiculous. I made my career off the field, without the help of others.”

Becker, on the other hand, remains calm and gives a tip in the podcast ‘Das Gelbe vom Ball’: ‘Never bite the hand that feeds you. By hand I mean tennis. At some point you will play tennis again and maybe, hopefully, win a Grand Slam tournament.” Kyrgios has the talent for this, according to Becker. However, the tennis bully missed his first big opportunity to do so in 2022 when he lost the Wimbledon final to Novak Djokovic.

And finally, just before the holidays, Becker says conciliatingly: “Christmas greetings to Nick too.” (mpe)
