A year ago, the general meeting (AGM) of FCL Holding AG marked a turning point in the club’s history. At the time, the board of directors withdrew a 25 percent share package from its majority shareholder Bernhard Alpstaeg (78), thereby destroying his majority of shares and thus preventing his own deselection.

Because various repossession, criminal, civil and administrative proceedings have been ongoing since then and there have been no court rulings, this year’s AGM was, as expected, much quieter. Alpstaeg even had him represented by a voter, who voted for him and therefore against the board of directors.

Alpstaeg disputes decisions

After just over half an hour, the general meeting with about seventy shareholders (including many small shareholders) was over – without any significant surprises. The entire Board of Directors with Chairman Stefan Wolf, Vice-Chairman Josef Bieri, Ursula Engelberger-Koller and Laurent Prince has been re-elected and dismissed.

This does not correspond to the ideas of Alpstaeg, who now sees himself forced to challenge the decisions of the general meeting – as he did last year. “This applies in particular to the re-election and dismissal of the four-member board of directors,” reports spokesperson Sacha Widdorovits. A step that Alpstaeg had to take. Because if he had not done so, he would have de facto accepted the decisions of this year’s general meeting.
